What is the proper name for this bread that is used for the "breaking of bread" during meetings of Christmas?
I can not believe I I'm asking this, but is somewhat necessary as a special Christmas surprise for someone at work. I need to know the name of "bread" that has the images Christmas (religious) in it. It is flat, comes in blue, pink, white (perhaps other colors) and tastes a lot like an ice cream cone (no sugar loaf, but the cones cheap cup). The person I intend to surprise and Czechoslovakia is Catholic, so I guess it is a tradition in one of these groups. Traditionally it has been broken and shared, therefore, "breaking of bread". What is the proper name for this bread? " In addition, each color to represent things that happen in the new year (or so I heard.)
It oplatky. We have every Christmas. My grandfather was a Slovak, and our tradition came from him. I've never seen colors though. Ours is white gold with a design of a religious scene. It's also good with a little honey in it.
