Each year a large manger was established in the village church, and the days before Christmas is filled with parades and parties. The two children loved Christmas but were always something sad. They were so poor they had no money to buy gifts. He particularly wanted that could give something to the church for the Baby Jesus. But they had nothing. One Christmas Eve, Maria and Pablo set out for church to attend service Christmas. On the way picked up some green plants growing along the road and decided to take as his gift to the baby Jesus in the manger. So the children gathered plants and took them to church. Some of the other kids made fun of them because they had no better gift, but said nothing because they knew they had given all they could. Maria and Pablo began placing the green plants around the manger and miraculously, the first green leaves became bright red petals, and soon the manger was surrounded by beautiful star-like flowers. From that moment, in Mexico, people began to call the green plant with red petals "The Flower of Christmas Eve." Others came to call the poinsettia, and to this day is a favorite flower at Christmas. the end does not know the author, but found this site; http://www.atozkidsstuff.com/xmaspoinsettia.html Sam EDIT - I did not give you a piece of history!
