My son is 2 today :'( and I have him a nice cake ordered for his party on sunday but all my fondest birthday memories are of my mom making a huge deal making and decorating my cakes. Of course she is a master baker. She would even keep the charachter cake pan she used and hang it on the kitchen wall every year. It seems like traditions are given up for convenience these days.
