In a statement Bermudez and soon to be published by Parents magazine MetroWest and lifestyle of the city of Lagos on, here's what I had to say about their influences from prison;

"During my years as a State of New York. Correction Officer, I had many casualties and sit lengthy discussions with youth incarcerated within the prison walls of Sing Sing maximum security prison, with some serving 10 to 100 years imprisonment.

In his own words, many blamed his situation in the unfortunate absence of parents, single mothers who work day hour and no monitoring, fatherless homes and in some cases, parents who were in the house however, have experienced the absence of love.

Some blamed the alcohol and / or drug, the peer pressure, physical abuse, verbal and mental health of their friends and family.

Discover through these conversations that many of these young discipline imprisoned deep in reality not mine. In fact, it gives them a sense of security, a solid foundation of personal strength and integrity. It also restores and instills in their minds, knowing that you are the parent, guardian and who is in control of their lives.

As a prison officer you have to draw the line between interpersonal communication and the Law of feeling, or his career will not go beyond twenties.

However, as a parent, I could not help to absorb and apply these sad stories in a positive way in my personal life. But always remembering that no matter how hard we try or how we might give, we can not save all the temptations of evil and shameless live.

I do not consider myself a I'm really good father far away, probably, in comparison with many other parents. But just by listening, understanding and application of what I learned from a positively, and left aside all negative and harmful elements contained in a prison environment, I think it's safe to say that prison really helped me to Prefect these imperfections did not know existed in me as a parent, ABP *
